Chris has 15 years’ experience in the tourism and events industries. Tower Bridge has been a must-see London landmark for 128 years, but under his directorship it has evolved, becoming a cultural and community hub, developing a wealth of activity that goes on beyond the globally recognised structure. Chris’ responsibilities cover all its functions as a working bascule Bridge, award-winning events venue, transport network infrastructure, centre for education – but is particularly proud of the continuous development of the visitor attraction. While seeing the growth of visitor numbers, the Bridge has not lost sight of the importance of constantly improving inclusivity, accessibility and learning, including regular ‘relaxed’ early-openings aimed at neurodiverse communities and individuals, British Sign Language tours, and Special Educational Needs workshops and tours. The Bridge currently holds the Sandford Award for Heritage Education, a Trip Advisor Travellers Choice Award and a Visit England Gold Accolade.
